The Pritikin diet is one of the oldest diets around. Developed originally as a diet to prevent heart disease it has since been adopted by many people seeking a healthier life style. It accomplishes this by cutting out bread and pasta and replacing it with whole grain. Fats are replaced by fruits and vegetables. The Pritikin diet uses a mathematical formula for its calorie watching which is easier than calorie counting but is not as precise. Exercise is included in the diet and a long walk of 45 minutes per day is required.
